On April 23rd, we noticed a couple of nuthatches busy filling a bird-box meant for blue tits with bits of wood and bark.The box is in the birch-tree in the front-garden and we watched them from behind the window in the sitting-room. They were clearly moving in. First week of june: the birds are still there. Now they are busy feeding their youngsters. Kim doesn't know how many juveniles there are in the brood. All she can see and report is three heads popping out of the holes of the box ,clamouring for food.
Le 23 avril, nous avons remarqué une paire de sittelles occupées à remplir un nichoir, prévu pour des mésanges bleues, de bouts de bois et d'écorce.Le nichoir se trouve dans le bouleau du jardin de devant et nous les avons observées de derrière la fenêtre du salon. A l'évidence, elles emménageaient.Première semaine de juin: A présent ,elles sont occupées à nourrir leurs petits. Kim ne sait pas combien il y a de juvéniles dans la couvée . Tout ce qu'elle peut voir et rapporter , c'est trois têtes sortant des trous du nichoir ,réclamant à manger.
This is interesting as I don't think Nutties use boxes that much. Excellent opportunity to watch them close-up.
