RHUYS -26 JUIN

Most of these photos were taken at Le Hézo along a lane between a small wood and a cultivated field.

Waspbeetle / Clytus arietis

This insect looks like a wasp but it is harmless.

Great green bush-cricket / Grande sauterelle

I nearly walked past it without seeing it . It was so well camouflaged and I was facing the sun. I had to push myself into a prickly bush to take a few shots with the sun behind me.

I saw the burnet and the lady bird in the same bush as the great green bush-cricket.

7-spot ladybird / Coccinelle / Coccinella 7-punctata

White admiral / Petit sylvain / Limenitis camilla

I saw this butterfly in a small wood next to the bird-reserve at Duer. It never settled for long as it kept hovering above ferns and it flew away whenever I tried to get nearer. I decided to wait for it , leaning in the shade against a tree-trunk . The sun shining in-between the tree-trunks made it difficult to expose correctly when the butterfly flew from deep shade into light and vice-versa. Then, it landed on a leaf next to me at eye-level. All that for a butterfly with bits of its wings bitten off.

White admiral / Petit sylvain / Limenitis camilla

Common blue damselfly / Enallagnia cyathigerum

I found it difficult to identify this damselfly, thinking that maybe it was an azure damselfly . I saw it flying and perching on fern-leaves in a small wood near the Duer bird-reserve.

JARDIN BOTANIQUE-HENNEBONT/ 27juin

Mute swan / Cygne tuberculé

Beautiful demoiselle / Demoiselle/ Callopteryx virgo

I did not expect to see some Beautiful Demoiselles and Scarce chasers when I visited the small botanical garden at Hennebont. But there was a piece of rough grass and a small brook in a corner and that's where I saw them and I was really pleased.

Bee-fly / Fallenia fasciata / Rosvellec,Vannes

I do not always know which species insects belong to when I take shots of them. Later on , at home, I like reading guide-books to try and identify them. I do not know the French name for this one.

Wild carrot / Carrotte sauvage / Daucus carota

Riantec. I saw this plant in a patch of rough grass by the sea-shore and I liked the intricate structure of its flower-head. This is only a small part of the umbel. I hope I have identified it correctly as I do not know much about plants and wild flowers.

Riantec.

The tiny fly in the bottom right-hand corner tried repeatedly to land on the flower but the butterfly would spread its wings to chase it away.
