QUIBERON- March 29th

I spend seven hours birdwatching on the peninsula and do quite a lot of walking about. It is very sunny all day, quite windy and cold in the morning and then very warm in the afternoon.I see a wheatear for the first time this year. I hear the song with the strange rattling note of a black redstart , find it singing from a small tree. Both birds are too far for decent photos. At the end of the afternoon ,I come upon a hoopooe in a small clearing in a wood by the sea and I miss it. The bird flies off before I have time to take a photo.
